Abstract

This essay seeks to shed light on a little-known aspect of Guercino’s activities, namely the Academy of the nude in Cento and the albums that the Emilian artist prepared for his students. The essay examines some of the engravings that appear to be particularly significant for understanding the overall direction in which Gian Francesco Barbieri’s didactic activity unfolded, in the historical framework in which they came to light.
